About the Aircraft: The D10 is a variant of the LZ-5 that featured a simplified, self-lubricated rotor system. That eight-seat helicopter first flew in April, 1953. In publicity photos at the time, the LZ-5 was photographed in hover while carrying a 1,850 lb. Volkswagen automobile. The helicopter was supplied to the U.S. Army and designated YH-31.
