About the Aircraft: This heavy tandem-rotor helicopter was developed by Bell as a submarine hunter-killer. It could carry almost one ton of depth charges, or air-to-water missiles. Only 50 were delivered to the U.S. Navy, however, because the ship proved too noisy for anti-submarine detection.
